Showing off: my Martin Annegarn knife collection
In this article I will show a part of my Martin Annegarn knife collection. As a collector I became interested in custom knives several years ago. For a long time, custom knives were not attainable for me because of the price. In general, handmade knives cost more than production knives. But, because of visiting knife shows and exhibitions, handmade and custom knives attracted me more and more. The work of Martin Annegarn in particular, because of the extraordinary fit and finish of his work and the high degree of decoration.
So, I think it was in 2017 when I finally bought my first Martin Annegarn. This was during Bladestock, the annual midsummer weekend show in The Netherlands. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to buy a big frontflipper Bowie with the Egyptian eye. I had seen this piece for the first time two months before during the Dutch Knife Exhibtion. That moment was too early for me, still being in doubt whether I could justify making such a purchase for myself. When I saw it again during Bladestock, I was sold. My first Martin Annegarn.
Since Bladestock 2017 I purchased several other knives made by Martin Annegarn. My collection grew significantly. Right now, mid of may 2020, I think I own approximately 17 knives of his knives. In the video below I show a part of this collection. In the video extra attention is given to his MAS knife, because of the recently announced collaboration between Martin and Tuya Knife on this StreetLegal design. This is kind of a slipjoint, with detent balls keeping the blade in the open and closed positions, together with an half stop. More on this collaboration in this article.
